Summer of Space Celebration

The library will be celebrating all day long for the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and NASA’s 60th birthday! We will have several space-themed crafts and show some cartoons, movies, and other videos all about space. We will also show the live webcast event sponsored by the American Museum of Natural History and the STAR Library Network at 3 PM.

CELEBRATION TIMELINE:

10:30 AM: Toddler Storytime with Traci Hinton (children’s area)

10:30 AM – 12 PM: A Starry Sew Fun with Susan Bryant (upstairs by grandfather clock)

11:30 AM – 3 PM: Space cartoons and movies, including The Jetsons, Space Jam, and Plan 9 From Outer Space (downstairs meeting room)

12 PM – 3 PM: Do-it-yourself space crafts, including straw rockets you can launch yourself and coloring pages (children’s area)

3 PM: Live webcast event of a guided recreation of Apollo 11’s journey to see how this mission was executed by crew members and mission control in Houston (downstairs meeting room)
