Library Giving Day 2020

How to Give to Morrill Public Library

As many of our patrons know, Morrill Public Library is one of about 50 public libraries in the Northeast Kansas Library System (NEKLS), which gives patrons access to over a million items throughout the system via Inter-Library Loan.

Through our relationship with NEKLS, Morrill Public Library has partnered with the Northeast Kansas Library Foundation to be able to take online donations for Library Giving Day! The Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization established in 2009 to support NEKLS. They are able to accept a variety of gift types, including credit cards, stocks, and bequests.

Click here to donate to Morrill Public Library from now through Thursday, April 23! You will click on “GIVE NOW,” pick “Morrill Public Library” from a drop-down menu, and then fill out the rest of the donation form!

4/20/2020 Update:

Library Giving Day is this Thursday, April 23 and we have an exciting announcement: A gracious anonymous donor has offered to match gifts given to Morrill Public Library up to a total of $20,000! This gives all of our patrons the special opportunity to double their impact when donating to our library, which in turn gives a greater impact on our wonderful community.

What is Library Giving Day?

Library Giving Day started as an idea generated by the Seattle Public Library Foundation. The concept was to create a national day of giving that public libraries would rally around and that the public would embrace. So, Seattle Public Library partnered with their strategic library fundraising partner, Carl Bloom Associates, to turn the idea into a reality.

Library Giving Day is a one-day fundraising event with the goal of encouraging people who depend on and enjoy public libraries to donate to their local library. And in turn, that support will go toward the incredible programs, services and materials provided by local libraries all over the country.

This campaign reminds us that libraries, small and large, serve as a cornerstone for our communities. In addition to well-loved books, many libraries offer innovative programs that promote lifelong learning, connect patrons to technology, and advance knowledge.

The day to celebrate Library Giving Day is April 23, 2020.

Library Giving Day at Morrill Public Library

When we at Morrill Public Library were first preparing for this year’s campaign, we couldn’t have known just how important this special day of giving would be for our library this year. In these unprecedented times, Morrill Public Library is a constant. And that’s thanks to the caring support of generous patrons in our community.

We’ve recently adapted to respond to our patrons’ desire to continue to enrich their minds and nurture their curiosity. We’ve helped those staying at home navigate the digital library landscape and provided valuable distance learning resources to people of all ages in our community.

On Library Giving Day, we can all come together as champions of our local libraries. Thank you for helping us stay strong. We’re so grateful for your support.
